Blending influences from classic big band jazz to modern trap, earworm invites listeners on imaginative journeys across time and genre – evoking a jazzy, cool ride around New York City in Citi Bike Anthem” or a frantic cannon battle at sea in Make It.” Intentionally eschewing guitar or piano or any other chorded instrument, YUCHTET’s woodwind and brass voices form one mega instrument underpinned by bass and, of course, Yucht’s own drumming. There’s no pretension here, though: while the group at times hints at the raw sorrow and turmoil of simply existing (as in Song Of Hope”), the overall vibe is pure head-bobbing fun—solo-filled, cool, and self-explanatory.
Shaped by New York’s intense creative ecosystem, Yucht created YUCHTET to break free from stylistic boundaries. “There’s no ‘right’ way to play. Be yourself,” he says.
